  • Woodstock Farmers’ Market: Nothing Short of a Blast

Woodstock Farmers’ Market owner Patrick Crowl loves what he does for a living–and it shows. It shows in the thousands of personally selected (and tasted) products for sale. It shows in the attention he gives to customers. It shows in the respect he has for his more than 35 food-crazy employees.

Italia“Our staff is amazing—we literally wake up every day living and breathing food—plus everyone genuinely loves to help our customers make choices,” boasts Crowl. “To actually know where your food comes from is so important these days—and to guide our guests toward something new and cool is nothing short of a blast.”

The 2,000-square-foot market specializes in sourcing artisanal foods from all over the world but focuses on regional and local foods, such as Vermont meats, poultry, cheeses (50+!) and produce, and uses many local ingredients in its prepared lunch and dinner selections.

The on-site bakery is known throughout the region for its breads, cakes, pies and cookies. (Covered Bridge Hermits are a personal favorite.)

WFM gained national attention this past summer when it was named “Food Retailer of the Year” by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade. The localvore/globalvore Mecca is situated just west of Woodstock Village on busy US Route 4. You can spot it by all the fresh garlands, wreaths and trees lined up at the WFM Garden Center at this time of year.

Mark Your Calendars! Hungry holiday shoppers can sample the Italian artisan foods purchased in Italy this fall by WFM staffer Amelia Rappaport at the Italia Next Door event. Taste, discuss and learn about these amazing products–pastas, olive oils, balsamics, condiments, chocolates and cookies–on Saturday and Sunday December 12th and 13th from 11 am to 5 pm at WFM’s mail-order facility, located next door to the market. Meet staff and chefs who will explain how to use some of these exciting finds from Amelia’s trip!

I love the Woodstock Farmer’s Market. If I lived closer I would be there all the time. Fabulous pies and snacks and produce. Around Burlington, we are very fortunate to have City Market and Healthy Living.
